Haere mai ki te Kura Katorika o Hato Hohepa ki Paeroa.
Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic School, Paeroa

Kia ora koutou,

Ka nui te mihi, ka nui te aroha ki a koutou e te whānau.  Nau mai, haere mai ki tō tātou kura Katorika, ko Hato Hohepa ki Paeroa.

Thank you for taking the time to consider St Joseph’s Catholic School.  Whether your child is continuing their learning journey or just starting, it’s my privilege to welcome your family to our school.  Welcome to our St Joseph’s family!

Our school Vision is “Realising our Passions:  Did not our hearts burn within us?”.  This vision describes:
  • Our living and burning faith and love for Jesus.
  • Our gifts, talents and passions and the way we learn more and share these.
  • Our learning journey - taking opportunities to grow both individually and as a community.
  • Our place and people who we are proudly and passionately a part of.

Our Vision is brought to life in our school through the opportunities our tamariki are given to truly shine, all while getting to know and love God.

At St Joseph’s, we are proud of the achievements of our tamariki and our school has a high reputation in our wider community.  Our children enjoy high academic success with a large majority of our Year 8 leavers being placed in top classes at their respective Colleges.  While the majority of our Year 8 leavers go on to Paeroa College, we also have children move to Hauraki Plains College and also the Catholic Colleges in Hamilton (Sacred Heart Girls College or St John’s College).

In Sporting and Cultural pursuits, children at St Joseph’s have many opportunities to excel.  Our school is actively involved in cluster events in Paeroa, Ōhinemuri and Thames Valley such as swimming, athletics and soccer.  We also participate in inter-Catholic school events such as speeches, cultural festivals and sporting and cultural exchanges.

Most importantly, our school is a whānau - a family.  Our teachers are dedicated and experienced educators, with a passion for assisting our tamariki to reach their full potential.  At St Joseph’s we aim to give our children the tools they require to be active learners, kind friends, innovative thinkers and confident, compassionate people.   This is achieved with a special focus on social and emotional learning, partnership between home and school and a rigorous, engaging curriculum centred on the core learning areas of literacy, numeracy and religious education.

I look forward to welcoming your family into our school whānau where together we can work with and support your child in developing a life-long love of learning.

Mā te Atua e manaaki – God bless,

Emalene Cull
Tumuaki/Principal
